夫の仕事のため、1997年から夫と2人の子供と共に暮らしていた米国から 2022年末に東京に移住。

Lena Ang-Silverman

Lena is a Certified Iyengar Yoga teacher (CIYT) who has been teaching yoga since 2010. She comes from the Iyengar Yoga Institute of New York, the largest school of Iyengar Yoga and one of the oldest in the U.S. She did her teacher training there and moved on to become a faculty member where she taught weekly classes as well as workshops.

Lena has gone to study with the Iyengar family as well as teachers at the Ramamani Iyengar Yoga Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune, India in 2017 and 2019. She has also studied long term with senior Iyengar Yoga teachers in the U.S., mainly James Murphy, Lois Steinberg, and Patricia Walden.

Lena came to yoga after two decades of being a dancer. teacher and choreographer. Her Masters degree was in dance ethnology where she developed a keen interest in movement analysis and dance as it relates to culture. In her performance, she did Butoh—a modern improvisatory dance that developed in urban Japan in the late 1950s. She founded her dance company in Malaysia where she was originally from and performed internationally.

As a yoga teacher, Lena finds joy in sharing the teachings that had been passed down from B.K.S. Iyengar. The principles of alignment in asanas and sequencing of the Iyengar Yoga method sets the foundation for self realization. Her teaching is precise, clear and creative.

Lena moved to Tokyo at the end of 2022 because of her husband’s work. She lived in the U.S. with her husband and two children from 1997-2022.

Light on Iyengar Yoga

In this workshop Iyengar Yoga’s principles of postural alignment, sequencing and timing will be explored. Students of all levels will have the opportunity to experience how the practice sharpens the intelligence of the body and aligns the mind and spirit.

The first session is suitable for students of all levels.

The second is for students who have practiced beyond beginner’s level.
